How to Send an Art Portfolio by E-mail

As a working artist, there are times when you must show your portfolio to prospective clients. However, it may not always be practical or feasible to hand-deliver it or send it by mail. In such cases, it is best to send your files electronically via email.

Instructions

    1

Photograph your art using a high-quality digital camera, preferably a digital SLR-type camera. Set the camera to output files in JPEG mode. If you can select an output quality, select the medium or space-saver mode. "Would you like to know digital photography approaches that bring professional photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques might support you out in doing so. To obtain spectacular pictures we initially want to look at some basic photography methods. The initial one I am able to share with you is determine about light. You can obtain everything about photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Anytime you learn about light and in what way it interacts with the direct environment then your images will get better..". This will provide sufficient output resolution for viewing your work on a computer monitor.

    2

Connect the camera to your computer and transfer the digital picture files to your computer's hard drive.

    3

Right-click on the desktop and select "Create New Folder" from the options that appear. Once the folder has been created, it will appear on the desktop and you can give it an appropriate name.

    4

Select the digital picture files that you want to send by email and drag them into the newly created folder. Or you can select multiple files by holding down the Command/Option key, selecting the photos that you want and then dragging them all into the folder at once.

    5

Right-click on the folder that contains your art project and select "Compress Folder" from the options that appear. This will create a compressed or "zipped" folder that will still contain all of your original art files but in a compressed format that is easier to send by email.

    6

Open your email application and choose the "Add Attachment" option. Select the desktop folder that contains your artwork and click "OK" or "Attach." Finally, address your email and click send.

What Causes a Shadow Behind People When Photographing Indoors?

What Causes a Shadow Behind People When Photographing Indoors?

Shadows in indoor photography are usually caused by your flash unit. Because the flash is so much brighter than ambient light, it acts as a point source and causes shadows. There are several ways to avoid shadows when shooting indoors, including diffusers, hoods, bounce flash, natural lighting and off-camera flash.

Avoid Flash

You can avoid using your flash unit if you position your subjects in natural light near a window, door or skylight. If you are using natural light indoors, you may need to shoot at relatively low shutter speeds. If you are using a 105mm equivalent or greater portrait lens, camera shake can be an issue at lower shutter speeds; use a tripod to compensate.

Bounce Flash

A quick and easy fix to shadows caused by an on-camera flash is to point the flash up at a white ceiling, aiming for a spot halfway between you and your subject. The light from the flash bouncing off the ceiling will be more diffuse than direct light from the flash and less prone to causing harsh shadows.

Diffuser Over Front of Flash Unit

Another quick and easy method to soften shadows from flash photography is to place a diffuser over the flash unit. You can buy diffusers, but in a pinch any thin white cloth such as cheese cloth or even a very worn white T-shirt will work. Flesh-colored women's stockings will diffuse the light from the flash and add a slightly warm tone.

Flash Diffusion Hood

Another possibility is to buy or make a simple flash diffusion hood that you attach to the top of your flash unit. A diffusion hood is essentially a piece of white plastic or cardboard placed at a 45-degree angle to the camera. When you point the flash up at the hood, the hood reflects the light of the flash forward at your subject. The light is sufficiently scattered by being bounced off the hood to reduce the amount of shadows caused. Commercially sold diffuser hoods use light-diffusing materials, but in an emergency you can fashion a basic functional diffuser hood with a few pieces of white cardboard and duct tape.

Off-Camera Flash

If you have a separate rather than a built-in flash unit, you can move it off camera to avoid unpleasant shadows. Imagine a quarter piece of pie, with one edge running from the camera to the subject and the other edge perpendicular to that line. Place the flash at a 45-degree angle, or what would be the middle of the pie crust, and raise it a few feet higher than your subject's head. This is the classic position for portrait lighting and is very flattering.

Professional Options

Professionals use multiple flash units and carefully positioned reflectors and diffusers to compensate for shadows. Professional photography stores carry a wide range of lighting equipment and may also offer seminars on how to use it.

How to Get Really Sharp Animal Photos

How to Get Really Sharp Animal Photos

Animals don't sit still for photographers, unless they just happen to be in a resting position. The amount of movement that animals are prone to makes it all the more challenging for a photographer to get a sharp picture of them. As a photographer, you need to be ready and steady if you want your photographs of animals to come out clear and focused, which is why the quality of your photos is determined by how you set up for them.

Instructions

    1

Set up a tripod for the camera to rest on. Any movement on your part can cause a photograph to come out blurry. Significantly reduce the potential of camera shake being a problem by using a tripod to hold the camera steady at all times.

    2

Focus in on the animal you are photographing. Look through the camera or at the camera's screen to visualize the shot you are after. If the animal is relatively still, zoom in so that the animal fills up more of the frame, and then refocus the image. The more you can fill the frame with the animal, the sharper the photograph will look. If the animal is running or very active, zoom out to track the action.

    3

Increase the camera's shutter speed setting as high as the light conditions will allow. Shutter speed is the single most important factor, after focus, for capturing a sharp image of an animal in motion. This is because the shutter speed helps to freeze the motion of the image being captured, and the faster the shutter speed, the sharper the image will come out. Review the shutter speed options on your digital camera, and note that higher numbers mean faster shutter speeds.

    4

Use your lighting wisely. A sharp animal photo can be achieved when the animal is well illuminated. Use your flash or capture angles of the animal that allow you to use the natural light, or light reflections, such as in water or on rocks.

    5

Edit your photographs using a photo editing software program. Select the image you wish to edit, decrease the blur or noise, and increase the sharpness for a clearer picture. Another way to sharpen an image in digital editing is to slightly blur the background, creating an illusion that the animal is in stronger focus.

How to Use Ring Light in Photography

Shadows and light make up our perception of depth. "Are you looking to discover digital photography methods that bring experienced photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques would help you out in doing so. To get spectacular images we first want to look at some imperative photography methods. The primary one I am able to share with you is identify about light. You can find every little thing regarding photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Anytime you discover about light and in what way it interacts with the direct environment then your photographs will get more beneficial..". However, shadows on faces, when photographed, can make facial features look large and distorted. Because the camera lens does not see the same as a human eye, highlights and shadows appear much stronger than they really are. Ring lights offer diffused lighting that eliminates unwanted shadows.

Instructions

    1

Use a ring light when you want to erase shadows from a model's face. With an adjustable illumination output, you can increase or decrease the amount of light falling on her features.

    2

Zoom in close with macro-ring lights that fit right on your camera's lens and illuminate tiny objects. Macro-ring lights, used in food and botanical photography, provide an accurate photograph without shadow distortion.

    3

Light up architectural details with large portable ring lights. When you need to shoot the details of a building project, a ring light can provide a shadow-free image.

    4

Reduce red-eye, a frequent side effect of using ring lights by having your model turn her gaze slightly away from the camera lens. Alternately, if you must shoot directly, edit out red eye in a photo-editing software program.

    5

Correct over exposure caused by your camera's image sensor by purchasing a through-the-lens (TTL) exposure control that automatically adjusts your camera's light sensor even when you move closer to your subject.

    6

Make your own ring light to avoid paying for an expensive unit. Although, your homemade ring light won't have exposure control, you will save enough money to purchase that telephoto lens you've been wanting.

How to Copy Old Photographs

How to Copy Old Photographs

Digital photography has taken over the industry these days, but before digital cameras were invented, people had to get their photos the old fashioned way: using a film camera and getting the negatives developed into prints. Many old photos are still around, residing in shoe boxes, frames, or albums. It is always a good idea to make copies of old photos in case something happens to the originals, so that the memories will never be lost.

Instructions

    1

Place the original photo on the scanner glass.

    2

Scan the original photo using the scanner.

    3

Obtain the digital copy of the scanned photo from the scanner. You can e-mail it to yourself from the scanner (if the scanner has that capability), or save the digital file using a USB drive, media card, or another form of digital media storage.

    4

Send the digital file to your local photofinisher to print. "Are you looking to discover digital photography techniques that deliver professional photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques would help you out in doing so. To obtain stunning photographs we initially want to look at some fundamental photography techniques. The most important one I am able to share with you is discover about light. You can locate everything regarding photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Whenever you discover about light and in what way it interacts with the direct environment then your images will get more beneficial..". Bring the digital copy of the photo into the store and print it on a kiosk, or by uploading the digital photo to the photofinisher's website and ordering prints online.
