Flash Catalyst CS5 Tutorial

Flash Catalyst CS5 is an application that designs and builds interactive websites and other applications without any code. This gives you the ability to create a website without any assistance from a developer. If you partner with a developer, you can develop a user interface for an application and hand the application design to a developer to connect live data services using Flash builder. In order to create your own website, you will need to learn the Flash Catalyst CS5 user interface.

Instructions

    1

Examine the "States" panel at the top of the screen to view the thumbnails. These thumbnails represent all the major parts of your application, such as website components or videos that you add to your website.

    2

Click "Duplicate State" at the bottom of the "States" panel if you wish to duplicate a page, or click "New Blank State" to create a new state for your website.

    3

Examine the "Artboard" below the "States" panel. The Artboard has many features, such as rulers and guides, and displays what will appear on the published website. This is the canvas where you place artwork, interactive components and other objects that make up the website's interface.

    4

Click the "View" menu to use these features, and click the "Modify" menu to align and arrange the objects on the "Artboard."

    5

Scroll to the right of your screen to view the "Tools" panel, which is beneath the "Search" bar. The "Tools" panel contains icons for the tools to create, transform or select objects.

    6

Scroll beneath the "Tools" panel and click the "Layers" panel. The "Layers" panel menu includes "Show/Hide," "Lock/Unlock" and "Selected" You can create a new layer and new sublayer. The "Layers" panel has a collection of the objects that are on the website, including components and videos.

    7

Click the tab next to the "Layers" panel to view the "Project Library" panel. This panel shows all of the components that are part of the website you create. Select existing components from the "Project Library" to position the components on the state. Click "Export Library Package" in the "Project Library" tab to send a library object to a developer.

    8

Scroll down to the "Interactions" panel on the right of your screen. When you click on an object in the "Artboard," the "Interaction" panel will add interactions that will allow you to see the results as users interact with the application. For example, when you add interactions that play animation or open a URL, it will show you the result.

How to Make a Free Valentine's Day E-Card

How to Make a Free Valentine's Day E-Card

Yes, it's that time again, Valentine's Day. If you are like me you forget about this holiday until the very last minute and then scramble to find the right "belated" card. Fortunately, there is FreeCard, an easy to use software utility from PCWW Software. This nifty little application, allows you to make your own e-cards that you can quickly email to cover up your lateness. It can be downloaded at pcww.com.

Instructions

    1
    Add The Image

After installing FreeCard, double click on the icon to start the program. First select the image you want to use for the card. It needs to be a Bitmap Image (BMP or BMX). If the picture you want to use is not in the correct format, simply open it in an image editor like GIMP or Photoshop and save it to the correct format. Notice the transition drop down menu next to the picture name. This is the opening transition for the e-card. There are a number of transition choices.

    2
    Add Text

The next step is to add text to the white block. You can paste text or enter text in the white block. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of text options. You can download other free card packages from the manufacturer that will give you more choices.

    3
    Change Colors

To edit the color background, click on the color editor button on the bottom center of the card. This opens up a color picker allowing you to choose any background for the card. Click the basic color block and then use the sliders to get the hue you want. When you are finished, click OK.

    4
    Add Music and Voice

Next we can add some music to our card. The program comes with a few samples and will only accept MIDI files. Click on the music symbol to browse for and select the MIDI file. "Do you need to discover digital photography methods that carry professional photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques might assist you out in doing so. To find stunning photos we first need to have to look at some basic photography techniques. The primary one I am able to share with you is identify about light. You can locate everything about photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Each time you find out about light and in what way it interacts with the direct environment then your photographs will get better..". You can also find free software that will convert WAV and Mp3 music files to MIDI. To add a voice track, click on the speaker to select a file. You can also record your own by clicking on the microphone symbol. This opens up Windows recording options and control panels to record your own message.

    5
    Adding a Voice Track

Once you have recorded your voice track, click on the speaker to open the folder where you saved your recording. Select your new recording as the voice track. Now is the time to run your file by clicking on the RUN button. Make any changes before saving the card.

    6
    Sending the Card

When you are finished composing your card, click send and select the top choice to make your e-card into and .exe file and not send. This will save a copy of the card to your CARDS sub-directory where FreeCard is stored on your computer. Once you have a copy, click send again to send the card to your valentine.

Eight Guidelines for Good Photography

Eight Guidelines for Good Photography

Photography is a very expressive artistic medium in which the lens of the camera acts as a substitute for the human eye. As the world of digital photography grows and expands, even a small point-and-shoot camera or an iPhone can capture high-quality images. The effective use of that equipment, however, takes some education and training.

Be an Art Director

Kodak recommends taking charge of your subjects and your staging in order to make your pictures more creative and interesting. Instead of simply taking a picture of your friends, for example, step in and control their location and their position. This might mean moving a few hundred feet from a road to a pier along an ocean or river. This might also mean positioning the members of the group according to height or asking one to wear her Batgirl sunglasses.

Taking Candid Shots

Have you ever seen a shot of a person on a street somewhere and wondered how the photographer managed to capture that moment without that person noticing? The Digital Photography School suggests a couple of methods of taking candid pictures. The first is to turn the flash off, since your subject is likely to notice the flash, ruining the moment that you want to capture. The second is to use a telephoto lens, which allows you to stand at a good distance from your subject instead of right in his face to capture your shot.

Focus On Your Subject

Whether your subject is a person, an animal or an inanimate object, focus your viewfinder on that subject. One way to do this is to take a close-up shot; get close to your subject until there are no distracting objects in the frame. It might also mean taking a wide shot that focuses on the subject while blurring the background. If your subject is large, such as a building, you might have to adjust your position to get your subject at an angle that eliminates objects that you do not want in your shot.

Experiment With Your Camera

Every camera comes with a manual explaining its features. Those are just words on a page until you go out and attempt to use them. Learn what increasing or lowering an exposure value does to your images or how changing a white balance setting influences the general hue of your shots. Experimenting with each of the features and viewing the result of those changes on your photography will help you to better make use of your camera.

Find Your Spots

Find the best spots for photographing indoors. Since you may not always have a studio with lighting equipment and screens at your disposal, you need to know how to use a rooms fluorescent lights or windows to light your shots. This will take some experimenting. Shoot the same subjects in different spots and at different angles.

The Rule of Thirds

The Photography Mad website recommends using the rule of thirds to guide your photography. To do this, imagine your viewfinder divided into three vertical columns and then place your subject at the first line to the left or the first line to the right. Centering a subject is very obvious, while placing that subject off-center adds an air of creativity and artistry to your shots.

Creating Depth

Add artistic layers to your photographs by shooting scenes in which there are lines in both the foreground and background of the shot. This could include a series of overlapping mountains or edges of buildings.

Use Your Instincts

The primary reason that people love photography is because a photographer uses the cameras lens to express an idea, a passion or a worldview. When looking for shots, use your instincts: you know what you love and you know what you find to be beautiful. Allow that passion to determine what you shoot and how you shoot it. Your instincts will show through your pictures.

How to Learn Photography Lighting

The lighting used in photography is mostly an artistic choice. The photographer has learned through trial and error the type of lighting she prefers to shoot with for various effects. Once the new photography learns lighting basics, they can branch out and experiment on their own. Photography is an art, and the lighting is akin to the choices an artist makes about the lighting in her paintings. Learning the basic techniques is as easy as some hands-on training, studying written resources, or just experimenting to see what you like.

Instructions

    1

Learn the basics first by offering to help an experienced photographer set up his equipment. He will show you where to place the lights, and will explain what portion of the client each light is supposed to highlight.

    2

Apply to work at school photography studios. A lot of them will train their inexperienced employees, so long as they seem to have the knack for the job. You will work with an experienced photographer until your superiors think you have learned the job well enough to do it on your own.

    3

Buy books on photography lighting and study them. Adapt the instructions to your own photography and experiment until you find a lighting set-up that you like. A lot of lighting techniques rely on the style and interpretation of the photographer.

    4

Enroll in an on-line or college class on photography and lighting. You can learn a lot from these, or very little depending on the class. They will probably be costly too, so look around for the best deal before enrolling.

    5

Subscribe to a good photographers magazine. They have many great articles about lighting in them, and you will continue to learn other things about photography as well. "Do you need to learn digital photography methods that carry experienced photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques could help you out in doing so. To acquire impressive photos we primary want to look at some essential photography methods. The primary one I am able to share with you is identify about light. You can obtain all the things concerning photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Whenever you learn about light and in what approach it interacts with the direct environment then your pictures will get superior..". Experiment with what you have learned and dont be afraid to change up the lighting to reflect what you envision, as thats part of the art of being a good photographer.
