How to Take Photos of Landscapes With a 100 F2.0 Canon Lens

How to Take Photos of Landscapes With a 100 F2.0 Canon Lens

Shooting a landscape photo correctly is the difference between a ho-hum image and an eye-catching work of art. Using a Canon DSLR and the Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM telephoto lens, you can take very good landscape photos. Whether you are in the middle of a city, on a Pacific island beach or hiking in the Rockies, there are several tricks to take best advantage of this photographic equipment for landscape shots.

Instructions

    1
Use the Rule of Thirds to take compositionally-sound photographs.
Use the Rule of Thirds to take compositionally-sound photographs.

Divide the landscape into thirds using the camera viewfinder. Photographers often use the Rule of Thirds to take landscape photographs. This artistic principle dictates that the photo composition should be broken into three nearly equal parts. A wilderness photographer might dedicate roughly one third of a photo to a lake in the foreground, another third to a mountain and the last third to the sky. If shooting a beach sunset, he would divide the photo evenly between the sand, ocean and sky.

    2
Aperture controls the size of the lens opening.
Aperture controls the size of the lens opening.

Adjust the aperture settings on the lens. On most Canon DSLRs, you must hold down the "Av" button, and turn the dial on top of the camera. "Do you want to learn digital photography techniques that carry experienced photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques might support you out in doing so. To acquire amazing photographs we initially need to look at some fundamental photography techniques. The preliminary one I am able to share with you is determine about light. You can obtain everything concerning photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Anytime you find out about light and in what method it interacts with the direct environment then your images will get much better..". The Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM telephoto lens is capable of shooting very low apertures, but you need to increase the aperture for this shot. This is necessary because landscapes have a large depth of field. An aperture between f/8 and f/11 works best in most situations.

    3
Turn the ring on the front of the lens to focus.
Turn the ring on the front of the lens to focus.

Turn the dial to the left to decrease the shutter speed. Do this until the light meter indicates a correct exposure. Focus the 100mm lens by turning the ring on front of the lens to the left or right. If the camera is set to auto-focus, you do not need to worry about this step. Manual focus gives you more control over the shot, but takes more time.

    4

Hold the camera steady, and press down the shutter to capture the landscape. Take some additional photos in case the first did not come out well. Move around to explore different shot angles. Take a few shots at different shutter speeds as it is possible the light meter did not give you a good exposure the first time.

How to Integrate Photos Into Home Movies

How to Integrate Photos Into Home Movies

It is pretty easy to add still photographs to your home movies and integrate them with your video footage and soundtrack. Adobe Photoshop Premiere Elements allows you to easily add your images, but you may not know it since there is no "images" space identified in either the timeline or sceneline view. Images are added into the VIDEO track the same way that video clips are added to the timeline or sceneline. This article provides some step-by-step techniques on how to do this integration.

Instructions

    1
    Opne Media

Add all of the media files you will use in your project. You can do this from the ORGANIZER or choose GET MEDIA from the file menu. "Do you need to learn digital photography systems that carry expert photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques might support you out in doing so. To acquire stunning pictures we primary want to look at some imperative photography methods. The primary one I am able to share with you is find out about light. You can obtain everything about photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Each time you learn about light and in what method it interacts with the direct environment then your pictures will get much better..". Images do not have any markers, but videos and music files are marked with appropriate icons. This allows you to easily scan your opened media for pictures and videos. One thing you will notice is that Adobe Premiere is a memory hog and may work very slowly depending on your computer speed and available disk space. You should always close all other programs when editing video. Even if you have a very fast computer, your production speed will increase if you free up resources for Premiere. Let's face it, video files are huge, so you need to help your computer help you.

    2
    Sceneline View

Drag and drop all of your video clips and images to the SCENELINE in the correct order you want them. In this view perform any video editing you may want to do. To edit the video, simply right-click on the video or image in the sceneline and select PROPERTIES. This will open an editing panel on the right that allows you to change contrast, brightness, color, movement and even audio volume. If it is an image rather than a video; you can still adjust elements such as color, brightness and contrast.

    3
    Timeline View

Once you have everything the way you want it, click on TIMELINE to open the timeline view. Notice the yellow line going through the video and audio timeline. For video, it controls the opacity of the video. If you were to drag the yellow line to the bottom the video would turn black, or to the top it will turn white. The yellow line in the audio track controls the volume. Notice that the yellow line on the audio tracks is all the way to the bottom since I wanted to disable the audio to prevent conflicts with the soundtrack. Notice also that the images have no audio and they are small compared to the video files.

    4
    Zoom In

This is a ZOOMED view of the TIMELINE. It is necessary to zoom in on the timeline to work with the images and short clips. The zoomed view will allow you to use handles to stretch or shrink the timeline of each image. Images default to a screen running time of 5 seconds. The video in this article was made at this default setting. If you want to adjust this time, use TIME STRETCH mode to adjust the time the image is on the screen. You can right-click on the image to access the time stretch option or you can use the adjustment handles at the front and back points of each image.

    5
    Add Titles

After making your timeline adjustments, switch back to SCENELINE view to add titles in the front and back of the movie. Browse the various title choices and drag and drop them into the right point in the SCENELINE. Double-click on the title to bring it into the editing window to edit the text and adjust the text properties. You may have to switch back to the timeline to adjust the time the title is on the screen. Your movie is now complete except for adding the soundtrack. The movie is now at its finished length, so you can position the music in the SOUNDTRACK line of the SCENE view. Switch to the timeline to adjust the volume of the soundtrack and to fade in or fade out the music.

How to Capture a Sunset Photo

A good sunset photo offers great benefits to both the photographer and the viewer. Honing their technique, a photographer gets to bask in the glory of accomplishment after capturing the perfect sunset shot. For the viewer, the sunset shot enhances the experience of enjoying a truly magnificent photo that illuminates a peaceful feeling. The problem is that some photographers are unsure of how to capture such a shot. This article will go over how to capture a sunset photo each and every time.

Instructions

    1

Find the perfect location. There is more to a sunset photo than just the sun. Scout for a location that offers additional beauty. Also, avoid outside objects that may block the shot.

    2

Check the "white balance" setting. The white balance can determine the difference between a horrible sunset photo and a magnificent picture. A major mistake is is keeping the white balance setting on the automatic camera setting. Set it to either the "sunset" or "daylight" preset. Another way around this is to use a RAW image format and set the WB setting in the photo editing software.

    3

Choose a composition. Depending on the shot, you can use either landscape or portrait. While either will work, landscape is the more popular choice.

    4

Set the exposure setting. For a photo with the best and most vibrant colors, the exposure should be underexposed to -1 or -2 stops.

    5

Set the meter. This is another common mistake that photographers make. Do not allow your camera to do the metering. Spot-meter the shot by bracketing 2/3 and 1 1/3 stops in either direction right or left from the sun.

    6

Frame the shot so that the sunset isn't directly in the main focus. Set the picture with the sun to the right or left.

    7

Start the shot right before the sun sets. "Do you want to discover digital photography solutions that bring expert photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques would likely assist you out in doing so. To find impressive photos we primary need to look at some imperative photography methods. The most important one I am able to share with you is uncover about light. You can locate everything regarding photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Each time you discover about light and in what technique it interacts with the direct environment then your pictures will get more beneficial..". Check with the weather channel to find the time of the sunset. Set up the equipment and shoot in enough time so that you can capture a few shots before the sun sets.

    8

Continue shooting as the sun sets, and catch a few after it has completely set. It is hard to say at what position the sun should be in to make the best shot. You will sometimes find the best shot after the sun is hidden behind the horizon and Mother Nature has supplied the prettiest color palette.
