How to Transfer Photos to Acetate Banners

How to Transfer Photos to Acetate Banners

Transfer photos to acetate banners by printing or photocopying. Acetate sheets are transparent sheets made from acetic acid and cellulose. The sheets are 0.1 mm or 0.5 mm thick, available in a large range of colors. You can obtain acetate from art and craft stores. Print or photocopy your photos onto the acetate to display on an overhead projector (helpful when painting murals) or to transfer them onto wood, paper or fabric. Not all printers and photocopy machines are designed to print on acetate.

Instructions

Print Acetate Banners

    1

Open the digital image of your photograph in a graphic design program.

    2

Open the package of acetate banner sheets. The instructions on the package will direct you to set your printer to "Photo Quality" or "Draft." Change the settings on your printer program accordingly.

    3

Place the acetate into the printer paper tray. Only place one sheet of acetate into the paper tray at a time. Click on "Print" or hold down the "Control' and "Alt' keys on your keyboard. Select the "Print" button on the message box to start the print job.

    4

Remove the acetate from the printer and leave it, inked side up, on a table to dry. Handle the acetate only on the edges.

Photocopy Acetate Banners

    5

Place the photograph print on the glass of the photocopy machine, face down. Use the ruler guidelines to center it on the glass. If you intend to shrink or enlarge the image, set the photocopy machine accordingly.

    6

Place the acetate in the photocopy feed tray. Only place one sheet of acetate in the tray at a time or they may stick to each other and cause a jam.

    7

Close the lid of the photocopy machine and press the "Copy" button. Wait for the acetate to process before making further copies.

High-Key Lighting Tutorial

High-key lighting usually has a very light, bright, white or pale hue. High-key lighting studios typically use white backgrounds for the photos. Any human subjects of these photos often dress in either white or pale clothing. However, high-key lighting studio photographers most commonly use the technique for photographing small objects on white backgrounds.

Box Studios

To create a small high-key lighting studio of your own, simply incorporate a lot of light and white or pale photography backgrounds. For small items, create a small lighting studio using a box or light tent, which will allow you to provide a lot of direct light while also diffusing it to prevent harsh, unprofessional looking shadows on your subject.

Though you can purchase small light tents and studios, try creating one yourself by cutting holes into the sides and top of a cardboard box to make window-like openings. Cover these openings with white cloth, wax paper, tissue paper or another light-colored diffusion material. Place your studio lights and lamps outside the small studio box and point them toward the diffusion-covered windows. "Would you like to know digital photography approaches that deliver professional photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques might support you out in doing so. To get impressive photos we initially want to look at some imperative photography strategies. The initial one I am able to share with you is figure out about light. You can obtain every little thing concerning photography techniques on , The Top Secret Photography Techniques. Whenever you discover about light and in what approach it interacts with the direct environment then your images will get more beneficial..". This will allow the light to shine inside the box and light up the object you're photographing, while diffusing the light enough to prevent harsh shadows.

To create the high-key lighting look, place white paper or fabric along the inside bottom and back of your box, then sit your object in the center. Shine very strong lamps or studio lights into each side and the top of the box to create a very bright interior. Increase the high-key effect by overexposing your photos by plus-one or plus-two stops on the camera.

Larger Studios

To build a larger studio, start with a very light or pure white room, then add as much extra light as you can. If possible, incorporate sunlight from wide-open windows or patio doors. Use studio lights by themselves or in combination with the natural lighting. The bright white of the room will help reflect and enhance the overall amount of available light.

To create high key photos of people, dress them in pale or white clothing. For the best high-key still lifes, photograph pale objects. Regardless of the subject, increase your camera's exposure setting to create more of a high-key effect in the finished photo just as you would with a box studio.

Correct Ways to Light a Photography Studio

Correct Ways to Light a Photography Studio

In photography, the correct lighting can make or break a picture; however, correctly lighting a studio can be an overwhelming process, especially for amateurs. Some photographers spend thousands of dollars on lighting in hopes of making the lighting process easier. Rather than purchasing unnecessary lights and accessories, learn the basic studio lighting schemes that are essential for achieving the best results.

Broad

Broad light is a method of lighting in which the side of the object or person facing the camera receives the most light. While broad light is useful for giving strength and power to a photo, avoid using this type of lighting in portraits as it tends to makes subjects looks chubby.

Butterfly

Butterfly light, or over and under lighting, is a method of lighting in which the main light falls directly in front of the subject, creating height and shadows. This method is most useful for creating a glamor photograph of female subjects.

Key

Key light is a method of lighting created by a main and powerful light source that creates shadows and shapes subjects. Key lighting is useful for creating an illusion of smoothness for a subject or adding and emphasizing the texture of a subject.

Loop

Loop light is a method of lighting that creates a subtle loop on a subject with shadowing. This method of lighting is the most flattering light scheme that also creates a three-dimensional effect on the subject. Loop lighting is most effective when taking portraits of subjects with ruddy or blotchy skin and narrow faces.

Rembrandt

Rembrandt light is a method of lighting in which a main light falls high on the side of the subject that is facing away from the camera. Considered an artistic classic, this method of lighting produces one heavily illuminated side of the subject and one heavily shadowed side of the subject.

Short

Short light, the opposite of broad light, is a method of lighting in which the main light falls on the side of the subject that is the farthest away from the camera. This method of lighting is ideal when photographing chubby subjects as it visibly thins the subject and creates a thin face.

Split

Split light is a lighting method in which the photographer positions the main light to fall across the subject at a 90-degree angle. This method of lighting creates a dramatic a dramatic shadow that falls right down the middle of the subject. Split light is useful for creating a dramatic portrait.

How to Shoot the Sky Scenes With a DSLR

How to Shoot the Sky Scenes With a DSLR

The sky provided the only light a photographer could use when the medium was invented in the 1800s, and it wasn't long before the sky itself became a subject. Clouds, sunsets and unusual weather remain sources of striking images, yet the sky presents some unique challenges as a "model." Without taking into account these peculiar aspects, photographs of the sky may be disappointing.

Instructions

    1

Consider the exposure of the sky. Light meters, both hand-held and in-camera, are designed to evaluate a scene and recommend a shutter speed and aperture combination that will produce a result that is the tonal equivalent to 18% grey, often called "middle" grey. A sample of middle grey is included in the Resources section. The sky may not have this value, so without compensation, you may not get the results you expect. Clouds may disappear or lack detail (overexposure), or the scene overall may be too dark (underexposure). Use your camera's exposure compensation feature or manual settings to make the appropriate change.

    2

Add a polarizing filter if you want to add richness to a blue sky. Polarized light is affected only off the sun's axis, that is, when it is to your right or left as you face your subject. The blue sky will darken and contrast between clouds will increase.

    3

Add a graduated grey filter to add a smooth transition of tone. The filter will darken the upper portion of the sky in a way that can look natural in a finished print. Adjust the aperture setting to experiment with the amount and transition of the effect.

    4

Use a yellow or red filter if you are shooting black-and-white images. These colors block light in the blue spectrum, so a blue sky will appear darker, dramatically so with a red filter. "Would you like to know digital photography solutions that deliver professional photographers to where they are today? Well, The Top Secret Photography Techniques might help you out in doing so. Some cameras with through-the-lens meter and focus systems may not work through a red filter, but should handle a yellow filter with little difficulty.
