    Extend the legs of the light stand. Light stands can be purchased from photo supply stores. If you do not have a light stand, you can use a tripod.

    Raise the center post of the light stand to desired height, usually around 6" if you are shooting a portrait.

    Attach an A-clamp to the light stand or tripod pole.

    Attach the foam core to a second A-clamp.

    Attach the clamp with the foam core to the handle of the first clamp so that the foam core is in front of the pole.

    Aim the flash or sun at the foam core.

    Bounce the light off the foam core into the shadow of the subject.
    Add a third clamp to the light post near the bottom of the foam core if you need to change the vertical position of the board. Turn the clamp toward the reflector to push out the bottom of the board to the desired angle.
    To move the foam core horizontally, raise or lower the light stand.
