Dots per inch, or DPI, refers to the way an image is printed on a piece of paper. Dots per inch is different from the pixels per inch, or PPI, that an image has on a digital camera or on screen. When printing a digital photo, you may want to change the dots per inch to meet the requirements of a home or professional printer. You can change the dots per inch of a digital image using photo editing software.
