Instructions

    1

Run Photoshop or another photo manipulation software such as Google Picasa or free alternative GIMP. Click "File" the "Run" or double click on the desktop icon to launch the program.

    2

Find a picture of a runway that will make a good background for your original image. Think about the size of the runway; try to keep it in proportion to the image that will form the top layer.

    3

Open the picture of the runway and the picture you want in the foreground in Photoshop by clicking "File" then "Open" before selecting the image.

    4

Choose the window with the runway image. Click "File," then choose "Select All" from the drop-down menu to select the runway image.

    5

Click "Edit," then "Copy" to copy the selected image.

    6

Create a new layer by selecting the "Layer" tab, then choosing "New Layer" from the drop-down menu.

    7

Paste the copied image onto the newly created layer by clicking "Edit," then "Paste." The runway image should now appear on a layer above the foreground image.

    8

Add a layer mask to the upper layer by clicking "Layer," then choosing "Add Layer Mask" from the drop-down menu. Select "Hide All." A black square should then appear next to the runway layer in the layers window to indicate that it has been hidden.

    9

Select the brush tool from the tools menu. Make sure the colors you have selected are black and white.

    10

Brush over the area around the foreground image once the mask has been selected. This will reveal your new runway background.
