Select the images on the memory card, create a file within the C directory of your computer and copy and paste the images to the new location on your computer.

Download digital image recovery software if the memory card has been erased or used again, so you cannot easily import the photos to the computer another time. There are many digital image recovery software programs available online that can be obtained for free or for a fee. Be sure to choose a version compatible with your computer. A Window's based recovery system will not operate properly on a Mac computer.

Open the image recovery software. Follow the on-screen directions. Be sure to direct the recovery software to the media card drive attached to the computer, and not the hard disk of the computer itself.

Bring the file data back to the computer when you have recovered the lost files. Most programs recommend that you create a new file when you import the lost files. Do not try to write over the existing, corrupted images, but instead create a new file directory and import the image data there.
