Instructions

    1

Prepare the your color slides for scanning by cleaning them carefully. Blow them with compressed air or wipe them gently using a lint-free cloth to remove any surface dust and debris. Take care not to scratch the slides when you are cleaning them.

    2

Remove the inner cover from your flatbed scanner. Look for a soft pressure plate in the lid of the scanner which is used for print scanning. Remove this to allow the light to pass through your color slides during the scanning process.

    3

Place you 6x6 color slides on the scanning glass. Align them with the corner of the scanning glass and the guides along the side of the scanner.

    4

Click "File" then "Run" or double click on the desktop icon to run your scanning software. Preview your slides in the software before deciding whether to scan them individually or as a batch.

    5

Adjust the scanning resolution. Most software will have the resolution automatically set between 200 and 300 dpi which is fine for scanning prints but you will need to increase the dpi before scanning your color slides. Set your dpi as high as the software allows you; this will increase the time it takes to complete the scan but will give you extremely detailed images.

    6

Click "Scan" or press the scan button on your scanner to start the scanning process. Once it has finished your completed scan should appear on screen.

    7

Save your completed scan. If you have scanned the slides as a batch them use the scanning software to cut them apart before clicking "File" then "Save" to save the individual scans.
