Breakdancing is a fluid, fast-pace dance style that allows for a lot of creativity. To accurately take photos of a breakdancer in action with a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera, the camera needs to be properly set up to do so. Since breakdancing is fast, the camera's standard settings will take blurry photos. By adjusting the camera's settings and learning how to use the camera for action shots, your breakdancing photos will be clear and show off the movement for which breakdancing is known.

Add as much light as you can to the camera. Adjust the camera's light input to f2.8, if possible. It will also help to shoot in a well-lit area and use studio lights if possible.
2Speed up the shutter speed to 1/1000. Shooting with a high shutter speed lowers the chances of blur appearing in action shots ,such as the ones taken while someone is breakdancing.
3Use focus assist to focus on your subject. The assist ensures that the breakdancer is the focus of the picture.
4Move the camera around while shooting to focus on the breakdancer's movement. The breakdancer does not have to be in the center of the photo to be the primary focus. Experiment by shooting at different angles.
5Shoot in burst mode. Burst mode takes rapid fire shoots, allowing you to take shots that are impossible to take if you are manually pressing the shutter button for each picture.
